Leaving Apple

Steve Jobs famously said "It's more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy"

And after about six and a half years of wearing the Navy at the Apple Store touchwood centre, I feel the time has come to forge my own path into the open seas of business. And here it is, technologymadesimple.co.uk - the place for training, consultation and services related to both Apple products and the technology world in general.

My friendly style, open and honest communication, and experience have worked to my advantage in my time as an apple creative. I am hoping that these skills will translate well into freelance work too. Plus of course I’m certified up to the eyeballs with pro app goodness.

I considered taking this step whilst still working for Apple, freelancing on the side, but it would clearly constitute a conflict of interests, and all those years of reading the Apple business conduct training has obviously worked because I'm choosing to take the risk on this one, and build my client base from scratch.

Being a creative in the Apple store has been the best job I have ever had. But having a two year old at home has made me need some more flexibility in my life, plus the desire to be a role model and show that it's better to try something new than to be afraid of change. I will always be indebted to the people I have worked with and become good friends with at Apple, they are without a doubt the most talented, friendly, intelligent and interesting group of people that I have ever encountered. I hope that I have the opportunity to work with many of them on projects unrelated to their in store services!

This is a huge move for me and my family, and you can all help! If anybody wants to refer a customer to me I would be hugely grateful… Make sure the customer knows to tell me that you referred them, there will be thank you’s coming your way.

Those of you who are friends with me on Facebook, you can expect a Facebook page for Technology Made Simple to appear soon and I would love to get a whole bunch of likes to get me underway!

Keep on being awesome everyone, and remember “Stay hungry, stay foolish”
