Warmest greetings to all of our friends and customers!

June and July have been interesting months at TMS with some great technical challenges and some brilliant new customers working with us and joining our mailing list.

Notifications

The biggest piece of news from me (Chris) is the imminent arrival of my second child, due in September. Plus my little boy Jack is now in-between nursery and school, meaning he will be at home until September. For anyone who is looking to make a booking with me over the next couple of months be aware that I will be spending much more time than usual at home for these reasons. As always Leigh will be around to look after any customers with their technology needs! click here to make a booking with him.

WWDC 2016

Apple's worldwide developers conference brought plenty of announcements about upcoming Apple software releases. Both the Apple Watch and Apple TV can expect some updates but more interesting for most people are the updates to iOS which powers iPhones and iPads and the newly renamed macOS (previously known as OS X) which powers the Mac computers.

You can watch the WWDC announcements in their entirety by clicking here, or alternatively:

Elon Musk

If you haven't heard of Elon Musk and his car company 'Tesla' yet then you are in the minority. As one of the founders of Paypal, Elon took his profits from its sale and ploughed it back into his (then) new car company which only makes all electric vehicles. So far the vehicles have been prohibitively expensive for most drivers but the plan for Tesla is to begin creating affordable electric vehicles in the future. Elon has recently published an interesting short article outlining his plans for Tesla which boils down to:
  • Creating better solar panels
  • Expanding the range of electric vehicles to cover other lines such as vans
  • Developing better self driving capability for their vehicles
  • Allowing Tesla owners vehicles to earn them money by becoming autonomous taxi's
I found it a good read and it will be interesting to see how much of his vision comes to fruition. The article is available here:

Fun technology

This section is for looking at technology ideas that I think are ingenious. It's important to know however that we haven't tested any of these technologies and are not recommending them, just found them interesting! Click on the pictures to be linked to the relevant video.

Pokemon Go

There has been a huge amount of interest around this new game and it is wildly popular.
I'm not a great fan of Fox news but this seemed like one of the shortest explanations on YouTube about Pokemon Go.

Farmbot

Robot Farming in your Backyard - The Amazing FARMBOT
This idea can easily be dismissed as using technology where it's not required. Not many people will want to put this much time and effort into a small garden!
Still... Nice idea.
