To the Technology Made Simple Newsletter, Edition No.4

Hello everybody and a warm welcome to the fourth edition of the Technology Made Simple newsletter.

And for all my friends who are Apple Mac users it's an exciting day (Well exciting for me anyway...) because yesterday marked the launch of OSX 10.10 otherwise known as Yosemite (pronounced Yo-Semi-Tea). This was announced in another of Apple's trademark keynote speeches last night along with announcements of new iPads, a new iMac, a new Mac Mini and a further update to iOS 8.

Much like the last announcements, I have found myself already going back to the keynote video multiple times. And also like last time, I have prepared a little cheat sheet for those who don't want to sit through the whole thing but might be interested in one particular section.

I've been using the pre-release (beta) versions of Yosemite for some time now and I have been very impressed overall with how stable it has been for me. Looking at the app store this morning it seems that most users are agreeing with me on this one too, just look at the reviews:
That was from this morning (17th October) so I guess we might see things change but In my view, that's a pretty successful release right there!

If anyone would like a hand updating to Yosemite/iOS 8, or need to run through what the new features are then feel free to make a booking with me, I can happily come out and help. Click here to get to my bookings page.

In other TMS news, I have found myself experimenting with an application which allows me to make simple animated cartoons used for online advertising, spicing up presentations and any other times when a cartoon character can do a better job than a real person! The application is called 'CrazyTalk Animator 2 Pro' and has quite a nice demo video up here. If anybody has a need for these kinds of animated characters I'll be teaching myself how they're made over the next few months. It's difficult, but I'm already getting fairly proficient in the basics (always feels great going back to being a learner again!). I would be happy to make videos for people, or to teach you how to do it yourself!

The last thing I would ever want to do is spam your email address, so this newsletter is a monthly (roughly) event filled with content designed to inspire and educate my friends and customers, and keep you up to date with what I'm working on. Of course if you would rather not receive my monthly freebie, there is a link to unsubscribe at the bottom of this email! If you have friends or family who you believe would be interested in getting this newsletter, you can sign them up on my contact page - Click here to go to the TMS contact page
I would like to thank you all for supporting Technology Made Simple and if you feel that you have a minute to help me out even more, I would really appreciate it if you were to leave me reviews on Yelp or Google (or both if you're feeling really generous!). This helps me to show potential customers that I am worth looking at. You will need to have an account to leave a review on either site.

Warm regards to you all,

Chris Smith

On October the 16th, Apple made a presentation showing off their new products. I found myself going back to it so much that I wrote down the timings of when key things happen in the presentation. Click here to see my timing notes.
I have been busy developing some short video tips for users of Apple computers, there have been updates since the last newsletter so click here to see them!
