TMS Open: More Tech Help, Less Hassle!

Get more training time for less—it's a win-win!

New for 2025! We’re excited to introduce TMS Open—a friendly, interactive way to tackle your tech challenges in a relaxed group setting.

Twice a week, Chris runs live Zoom sessions where members can ask any tech-related questions. To become a member, join the TMS Patreon here: patreon.com/TechnologyMadeSimple and select the 'Open TMS' tier (see below for video tutorial).

For just £20 per month, you get access to two one-hour sessions every week—that’s about 8 hours of tech support every month! Membership is limited to 20 people to keep sessions focused and valuable.

How it works

TMS Open is a relaxed group session held over Zoom (see below for Zoom tips!). It’s a drop-in session, so no pressure to be on time—just join when you can! Think of it like a gym membership—the more you show up, the more you’ll get out of it.

✅ Ask Questions – Got a quick tech question? No need to book an expensive one-to-one session—just pop into TMS Open and get the help you need!

✅ Learn From Others – One of the best parts of TMS Open? Learning from others! Tech can be tricky because sometimes, you don’t even know what you don’t know. Listening to other people’s questions can spark new insights and help you grow your skills.

TMS Open is a subscription service. To join, you’ll need to sign up via Patreon, but don’t worry—it’s easy! Scroll down for a step-by-step tutorial video to help you get started.

Using Patreon

Patreon is a platform that lets you support your favorite creators and get exclusive perks in return. When you join Technology Made Simple on Patreon, you’re helping me create fun, educational content that makes tech easier for everyone.

By joining Patreon, you can choose different support levels—TMS Open is just one of the options! Here’s a video to show you how to get started.

Using Zoom

Many people got comfortable with Zoom after the pandemic, but if you're new to it—no worries! Zoom is simple to learn, and once you get the hang of it, you'll find it useful for all sorts of meetings.

Don’t let tech fears hold you back—Zoom opens up a world of possibilities! Check out the intro videos below to get started.

TMS Open ettiquette

Feeling a bit nervous about joining a group session? That’s totally normal! But don’t worry—TMS Open is designed to be comfortable and flexible.

✅ No pressure to speak – You don’t have to turn your camera on or talk if you don’t want to. You can ask questions via the Zoom chat if that’s more comfortable for you.

✅ Listen and learn – Some people join just to listen and learn from others’ questions. That’s totally fine!

✅ Treat it like a tech radio show – Want to keep TMS Open running in the background while you work? Go for it! Tune in and absorb new insights whenever you like.

Since this is a new experience for many, I’ve put together a simple TMS Open Etiquette Guide. You can find it below:

TMS Open etiquette guide

  • Sessions are recorded - but not for sharing, just to help me improve

  • Feel free to drop in and out without feeling like you need to announce your departure, we won’t be offended if you have to go

  • Cameras are optional but if you do choose to turn yours on please make sure there’s nothing to worry about in your background

  • Mute your microphone if you are not speaking so we can avoid background noise building up

  • If you arrive and there is already a conversation going on don’t worry, I will do my best to get to you!

  • Be mindful of others - if there are many people present try not to dominate the conversation. I may need to politely intervene so that others can get a word in!

  • It is absolutely fine to be here as an observer without feeling the need to join in

  • First thing to let me know is how much time you have and what question(s) you have

  • If you think of a question feel free to add it to the zoom chat which I will have open.
